April 6, 2026 marks the centennial of NEA Jazz Master Dr. Randy Weston, and this night invites you into the powerful world he created. Weston’s music connects jazz to African rhythm, history, and spirit, blending elegance, groove, and deep cultural pride into a sound that feels both intimate and expansive. From meditative melodies to driving, trance-like rhythms, his work was meant to be felt as much as heard. This centennial celebration honors a cultural warrior whose music continues to bring people together through joy, memory, and movement. PERFORMANCE LINEUP T.K. Blue, sax, flute, kalimba, music director Frank Lacy, trombone Sharp Radway, piano Alex Blake, bass Chief Baba Neil Clarke, percussion

GatherNYC presents an exciting program for flute, guitar and string quartet pair works by two superstar Latin-American composers whose styles contrast and compliment each other. Golijov’s achingly beautiful Tenebrae is juxtaposed with Clarice Assad’s exhilarating Sephardic Suite. Boyd Meets Girl is joined by violinists David Felberg and Jennifer Choi and violist En-Chi Cheng. GatherNYC is a revolutionary concert experience founded in 2018 by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd. The 2025-2026 season includes 31 concerts that run from October 2025 through May 2026, with concerts held every Sunday at 11am in The Theater at MAD. Guests at GatherNYC are served exquisite live classical music performed by New York’s immensely talented artists, artisanal coffee and pastries, a taste of spoken word, and a brief celebration of silence. The entire experience lasts one hour and evokes the community and spiritual nourishment of a religious service – but the religion is music, and all are welcome. Coffee and pastries are served before each performance at 10:30am.
